Ahhh...welcome fellow engineers/scientists/technical people! Wait!!! Is that an artsie??? What are you doing here??? Oh well, since you are already here, you might as well stay and look around. Only don't touch anything! You hear!?? Well, here is a section of my home that I dedicate to what I am striving to do...that is, to become a qualified engineer. But you already know that if you came by way of my homepage. Anyway, here in these pages are some lighter moments engineers share with each other, sometimes laughing at unfortunate artsies/bussies/non-techies. So, why do engineers rule the world? No one put it as elegantly as Gregory Lam of Ontario, Canada. He wrote: The term 'engineer' comes from the Latin 'ingenium' - yep, that's right, as in ingenious, clever and talented. This is also from the Latin root 'ingenerare', meaning 'to Create'. Being an engineer means research, design, invention and project management. Famous engineering innovations include the English Channel's Chunnel, the Great Wall of China, NASA's Canadarm, the Internet, fibre optics, traffic lights, and child seats. Whether it's a sturdier polymer, the CN Towers or an electronic toll system, it was planned and designed by engineers... The oldest recorded Engineer, Khufu-onekh, designed the Great Pyramids at Giza. Who else were Engineers? Alexander Bell, Armand Bombardier, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo, Guglielmo Marconi, Tom Edison, Lee Iacocca and President Boris Yeltsin were all engineers. In conclusion, we apply science to solve problems. We have to know more than scientists, because we have to take their little toy or chemical gunk from the lab and make it fly.
